A Beautiful Day!

It is such a beautiful day today! I just now found myself on the quad with twenty minutes till Astronomy 101. So, I am recording this moment for future me.

The green expanse of the quad is dotted with students lounging in the sun here or playing catch there. Crazy Joe is over in his usual corner preaching the end of the world or something, and there were even a few student groups who haven’t give up recruiting yet. We are still two weeks away from the arrival of autumn colors yet I’m already seeing some trees get a jump on it flaunting their colors early. No doubt due to these very welcome cooler temperatures.

Enough about the leaves! The sky! The sky is just amazing! A perfectly clear, crystalline blue as far as I can see. You can’t have a more perfect sky during the day. It means that tonight’s viewing will be clear! Even the pinprick of Venus is peaking through making the sky even better! I can hardly wait for tonight’s viewing time.

While I’m waiting here are some snippets of the conversations I can hear as I sit here.

“Did you hear about what happened last night after …”

“What did you get for problem 15?”

“Here’s an easy catch butterfingers!”

“No mom, of course I’m not skipping class, I’m just…”

“BUT THEN THE FLOOD KILLED THEM ALL! JUST LIKE THE COMING FLAMES OF HELL WILL…”

“WATCH OUT! Frisbee!”

“Yes, but as Plato’s cave makes clear”

“Drama club always needs more glitter!”

Sadly, I see that my twenty minutes is up. I will have to amuse myself with the thought of Plato’s cave filled with glittery drama club members as I head off towards Copernicus Hall.
